Mauritius is a popular tourist destination more well-known for its sunsets than its wildlife , on which the focus is here.
Roughly a week was spent on the island in January 2016 to take a closer look at the fauna consisting of many endemic species. Besides the hotel gardens close to Pointe aux Piments, visits were paid to the most Northwestern part of the country as well as the River Gorges Park, and the island Ile aux Aigrettes in the South.
