View of Miraflores, Lima from ‘the Bird Rock‘ restaurant.

The bird and butterfly expedition to Peru took place in August 2014. It started in Lima, and continued from Cuzco, which functioned as a base for excursions to the neighbouring mountains and the Amazonian region. In total, four major biotopes were visited. The Lima birds are found under the heading ‘the‘Bird Rock’ Restaurant’. The excursion through ‘the Cuzco Andean region’ includes photos from the Huacarpay wetlands, and various stops along Rio Vilcanota to the Machupicchu citadel and town, and furtheron to the Condor Valley overlooking the Apurimac river close to the Chonta village and Limatambo. The presentation of the photos of the birds from the excursion to the Manu Biosphere Reserve is divided into three parts: The Cloud Rainforest, The Amazon Basin, and where the Macaw Clay Lick is accounted for separately. Finally, the butterflies of the Manu Biosphere Reserve and the mammals are taken up separately.
